Margin vs markup: margin is profit as a share of the selling price. Markup is profit as a share of the cost. A product that costs ₹100 and sells for ₹150 has a 50% markup but a 33.3% margin.

Margin is profit divided by the selling price. Markup is profit divided by the cost. The same sale always has a higher markup than margin.
How do I find a selling price for a 30% margin?
Divide your cost by 1 minus the margin: ₹700 ÷ 0.7 = ₹1,000. Choose Find my price in the calculator to do it instantly, with GST if needed.
Should I calculate margin before or after GST?
Before GST. GST you collect is not your income, so work out margin on the price excluding GST. Tick the GST option if your price includes it.
